Childcare staff
Working at a childcare centre or as a childminder
DUO manages the National Childcare Register (LRK), the Register for persons active in the childcare sector (PRK) and the foreign childcare register (RBK). The National Childcare Register and the foreign childcare register offer overviews of registered childcare facilities, such as day-care centres and guest parent households. Registered childcare facilities have been approved by the municipality and the municipal health service (GGD). The Register for persons active in the childcare sector lists individuals who work in childcare or as host parents, as well as people who have other important roles in these areas. To manage these registers, DUO processes personal data of childcare staff and host parents.
Types of personal data
DUO uses different categories of personal data to manage the childcare registers:
- personal details, such as name and date of birth
- contact details, such as address, place of residence, telephone number and email address
- identification numbers, such as citizen service number (BSN).
Special categories of personal data
In some cases, DUO may also process personal data that falls under a special category. Some of the personal data we process is highly sensitive in terms of privacy. DUO only processes such special personal data in order to perform specific tasks, and when there is a specific legal basis for doing so. This includes:
- data relating to criminal convictions and criminal offences (in the event a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is not issued).
